Malawi orphanage blames Madonna for lack of funds

London (ANI): Pop queen Madonna has been blamed for a downturn in donations to the Malawi orphanage from where she adopted daughter Mercy James. According to Daily Mirror, organisers claim they are struggling to raise funds as people wrongly assume the pop superstar has donated thousands of pounds.

They are adamant it's because of the Material Girl that potential benefactors are failing to offer their help. They insist she did not offer a huge donation.

"We find it a day-to-day struggle to survive. Some days we don't even know if there will be enough food to feed the babies. Donors are not giving because they are under the impression Madonna paid us vast amounts of money," the Daily Star quoted a source as saying. Head of the orphanage, Annie Chikhwaza, adds: "I was never offered a penny. I did not expect any either."
