Charlotte Church engaged to Gavin Henson

London (ANI): Charlotte Church and her rugby star boyfriend Gavin Henson have secretly got engaged. The singer said Henson, with whom she has two kids, proposed on her birthday. The couple is now planning a small island wedding with around 100 guests later this year, reports The Telegraph.

The 24-year-old stunner also revealed she did not have 'a sausage of a clue' that Henson, 28, was going to pop the question on February 21 this year. She told OK! magazine: "We were always like: Yeah yeah we'll do it one day, but I was beginning to think I was going to be 'girlfriend' for the rest of my life.

"We'd gone out the night before for my birthday so we were hungover the next day and Gavin woke me up going: Get dressed! We're going for lunch. I said: I'm hanging! It's 10 o'clock! But Gavin said: No no, we're getting up, get dressed. As I came out the shower I said: What's that noise? And there was a helicopter outside!"

"I thought it was because of my birthday. I had no idea - not a sausage of a clue. Then my hangover just went because of the adrenaline of being a bit scared. I've been in helicopters before but it was just awesome - to see the place where we live and all the coastline."

She said: "It was a lovely day and I was with Gav, then he started talking all funny! Saying stuff like: We've been together five years now, we've had good times and bad times, but it's mostly been good times and I think we're meant to be together now for the rest of our lives. I was just a bit confused because he never says anything like that! Then he went down on one knee and said: So I'd better finally ask you, I suppose. Then he said: Will you marry me?"

Church revealed how happy she was when she said "yes". She added: "I was really emotional - I absolutely didn't expect it. It was brilliant. It was perfect the way it happened - it was a lovely day, it was really awesome, the ring was perfect , he was lovely. I was looking at this gorgeous man asking me to marry him, so what am I going to do? Say yes!"
