New
York
(ANI):
Piers
Morgan,
the
'Simon
Cowell" of
NBC's
'America's
Got
Talent",
may
take
over
American
TV
host
Larry
King"s
slot
on
CNN,
according
to
a
report.
Morgan
is
reportedly
on
the
brink
of
announcing
he
will
be
taking
over
King's
interview
chair
on
CNN.
NBC
and
CNN
are
in
the
final
stages
of
negotiating
a
major
deal,
which
would
allow
Morgan
to
appear
on
both
programs,
according
to
The
New
York
Times
Media
Decoder
blog.
Morgan,
usually
known
in
the
US
for
his
sharp-edged
criticism,
has
also
honed
his
interviewing
skills
with
popular
shows
like
'You
Can't
Fire
Me,
I''m
Famous," and
'Piers
Morgan's
Life
Stories,"
both
of
which
featured
Morgan
interviewing
celebrities.
His
was
the
most
probable
candidate
for
Larry
King"s
replacement
after
King
announced
that
he
would
be
stepping
down
from
his
anchor
seat.
“Piers
Morgan
is
a
very
talented
interviewer.
But
there
are
a
number
of
strong
interviewers
out
there,
a
number
of
talented
people,"
The
New
York
Daily
News
quoted
CNN
president
Jon
Klein
as
saying.
“The
9
p.m.
hour
is
the
linchpin
of
any
success
in
cable
news.
As
a
cable
channel,
it
tells
viewers
who
you
are
and
what
you
care
about,"
Tammy
Haddad,
a
former
producer
of
'Larry
King
Live"
said.
