off
the
top
of
the
US
album
chart,
after
a
six-week
run
at
No
1,
by
newcomer
American
singer
Kesha.
According
to
Neilsen
SoundScan,
22-year-old
Kesha"s
debut
album,
'Animal",
sold
152,000
copies
compared
with
sales
of
93,000
for
48-year-old
Boyle"s
'I
Dreamed
a
Dream",
reports
the
BBC.
About
seventy
six
per
cent
of
Animal"s
sales
came
from
digital
download
stores.
It
follows
the
success
of
Kesha"s
debut
single
Tik
Tok,
which
broke
download
records
for
a
female
singer
in
the
US.
The
pop
track
sold
610,000
copies
in
the
final
week
of
December
to
become
the
second
most
downloaded
track
in
the
US
last
year,
following
Flo
Rida"s
'Right
Round",
also
featuring
Kesha.
Animal
is
due
to
be
released
in
the
UK
in
April.
