Scotty McCreery wins American Idol title

Scotty McCreery deserved the American Idol title and he walked away with what he deserved. Lauren Alaina put up a strong performance on Tuesday (May 24) night, but at the end of the day, Scotty, who impressed the television viewers with his consistent good performance, was crowned the new American Idol last night (May 25).

Scotty performed “Live Like You Were Dying" with Tim MCGraw at the grand finale of American Idol while Alaina sang “Before He Cheats" with former Idol winner Carrie Underwood. Finalist Casey Abrams also performed the Queen classic “Fat Bottomed Girls" with comedian Jack Black while Haley Reinhart did a duet with Tony Bennett on "Steppin' Out With My Baby". The female contestants of the show also paid tribute to Beyonce by singing the medley of her hit songs, and the singer herself joined them.

The night also saw big names like U2 and Lady Gaga perform. Judge Steven Tyler also enthralled the crowd by performing the Aerosmith hit song "Dream On". The night also saw several other artists perform.
