BREAKING NEWS: Shakira gives birth to a baby boy!

Pop star Shakira gave birth to a baby boy in a Barcelona hospital on Tuesday. Shakira was admitted to the private Teknon clinic at 6.30 pm, and was accompanied by her boyfriend, FC Barcelona soccer star Gerard Pique.

She gave birth to her child at 9.36 pm. The baby boy weighed almost 3 kg. Announcing the good news on her website, she wrote, "We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Pique Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Pique, born Jan. 22nd at 9:36 pm, in Barcelona, Spain."

On Tuesday morning, before the birth, Shakira had tweeted, "I'd like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life." The baby was delivered by previously-scheduled Caesarean by a medical team headed by Dr Carlota Garcia-Valdecasa.
