Kaaviya Thalaivan

Kaaviya Thalaivan is an Tamil historical fiction movie directed by Vasanthabalan. The film stars Siddharth and Prithviraj Sukumaran along with Anaika Soti, Vedhicka, Thambi Ramaiah and Nassar in supporting roles. Story Line The film is about the lives of two theatre artistes played by Siddharth (Thalaivankottai Kaliappa Bhagavathar) and Prithviraj (Melachivilberi Gomathi Nayagam Pillai), the competition that exists between them in a small drama troupe. The former is the main lead whereas the latter one is the antagonist in the film. Nassar plays(Thavathiru Sivadas Swamigal) the role of a guru to these actors and the role of actress Vedhicka is inspired by the stage artist and singer K. B. Sundarambal. Anaika soti also plays the suporting role in the movie, where she has romance number with Siddharth. Soundtrack ( Track List ) The original songs and background score of the film will be composed by A. R. Rahman and lyrics penned by poet Vaali and Pa. Vijay. Cinematography will be handled by Nirav Shah. Reportedly, the film will revolves around the real life incidences of actor, singer and stage artist K. B. Sundarambal and S. G. Kittappa.   Production   Principal photography for the film started in early June 2013, wherein reports suggested that the film would be based on the based on the lives of yesteryear singers K. B. Sundarambal and S. G. Kittappa. However, only Vedhika's role is inspired by Sundarambal's life and the film is a musical drama of theatre artistes. Prithviraj revealed, "It is (Kaaviya Thalaivan) based on the popular theatre tradition that existed in Tamil Nadu during the 1920s and 1930s before movies took over." First and second filming schedules were completed in July and August 2013. In October 2013, the film entered its third schedule and shooting took place in Kothamangalam, Kerala. In December 2013, filming continued for an 18 day schedule in Chennai and 90% of the shooting was completed.  Vasanthabalan stated there were hardly any technical challenges involved while filming, comparing the situation of cues to his previous outing Aravaan. In May 2014, Siddarth confirmed on his social networking site that filming had been completed and that Post-production had started.    Release   The soundtrack was released through Suryan FM 93.5 aired across Tamil Nadu on August 18, 2014. The movie set to release on Nov 28, 2014.
