Thanga Meengal is an tamil dramatic movie written and directed by Ram, directing his second film after Kattradhu Thamizh. Ram, besides, plays the lead role as well alongside several newcomers.
A joint production of Gautham Menon's Photon Kathaas and R. S. Infotainment, the film features score and soundtrack composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film's shooting commenced in mid-January 2011 and was completed by late 2011.
The movie deals with the story of a common man named Kalyanasundaram, who lives his every breath for his daughter Chellamma (Sadhana). He will not be smart enough in earning the money and every time he will humiliated by his father. Due to this, the family will face a lot of financial problems, and Kalyanasundaram still manages to pull the cart.
Even in this situation, his love, caring and sentiment towards his daughter will never be down. In the story the family comes across the situation, where it will be very difficult for them to earn money.
Thanga Meengal also talks about the present day's Education system. The kind of discrimination that few teachers do in the schools by taking the negative stand on few students.
