The Rajanikanth starrer Chandramukhi had created a record in Tamil Nadu. It was released in Shanti Theatre of Chennai on April 14, 2005. Though 600 days were completed, the film is still running in the same theatre successfully. Theatre director Venugopalan says, 'We never predicted that Chandramukhi would create such a special record. We are exhibiting the film as noon show everyday. Still we are getting 50 per cent collections for each show. The artistes in the film are visiting our theatre and are experiencing happiness over the reaction of the audiences. We are planning to hold a function to mark the completion of 600 days of its exhibition in our theatre at Nehru Stadium amidst the audiences.

It is the film which was a remake of a Malayalam film Manichitra Raju. The film was dubbed in the same name Chandramukhi in Telugu. The film which was remade in Kannada had Soundarya in the role of Chandramukhi, while Sobhana played the Chandramukhi in the original Malayalam version.
