Saregama India Limited, the first and largest musical label in the country, in association with maestro A R Rahman, will conduct a statewide mega talent hunt across Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the name of a mega show titled 'Ooh La la la' through Sun Network. The Managing Director of HMV, Subrato Chattopadhyay declared this in the formal press meet of the launch of the show. The business head of Sarigama India ltd, B.R.Vijayalakshmi, a former camera woman and director of a few films said that the auditions will be held in six centers of Tamil Nadu, Trichy, Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, Tirunelveli and Chennai besides Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Rajahmundhri and Tirupathi. The criteria and challenge for final round selection will be that each band has to compose to the lyrics penned by Valee, based on the theme 'Nambikkai'.
After the screening of the nice AV, Rahman addressed the press in a cool and relaxed mood. "There are many talented bands across the state waiting for recognition. I found many such bands in the outskirts of Salem and other areas even 15 years ago. Music is not the product of an individual. It's a collective effort and playing for a band is a great feeling. I'm always moving around the world with my own band comprising 6 to 8 artists. There are many talent hunt shows conducting by various groups for singing, dance, etc... But hunt for a band is the first of its kind. We aim at spotting the right talent and provide them an opportunity to cut an album for Saregama. I'm ready to give film offers too for the right person from the selected band... " says the maestro.
The entire band hunt talent show will be telecast in Sun TV and Gemini TV for 13 weeks. Each episode will carry a two-minute byte wherein Rahman will give valuable tips to the musicians. Rahman will be a judge in the final round to select the winner.
