The event was star studded. Veteran director Bharatiraja was releasing the audio launch of his new film Bommalattam. All the stars of Tamil Cinema were at the event - music maestro Ilayaraja, director K Balachander, Kamal Hassan, action star Arjun. Bharatiraja is returning to directing films after a long time.

The film will be made simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Balachander handed over the first copy of the audio to Kamal Hassan. Ilayaraja was overseeing the event. Ilayaraja said, "I usually don't attend and functions held within the industry. I don't event attend the audio releases of the film for which I compose the music."

He added, "Bharathi knows this. But when he invited me to take part in the audio launch of Bommalattam, I readily agreed to come. We have had a very good relationship with each other ever since our younger days. If I were not to take part in this function, then my years in this industry would be deemed meaningless."

Bharatiraja responded to this compliment saying, "What Raja said came straight from his heart. He and I have been friends for a long time. One thing, I would like to make clear here - without Ilayaraja's scores, my films are nothing." KRG, the president of the South India Film Chamber, was among the other guests who spoke on the occasion. Actors Napoleon, Vijay Kumar, director S P Muthumaran among others spoke on the occasion. The film has Nana Patekar and action star Arjun in lead roles. Himesh Reshammiya has composed the films music.
