Character artist turned commercial hero Karan is now playing the role of an illicit arrack seller in a film titled Kathavaraayan. Leading Telugu heroine, Vithisha, is making her debut in Tamil through this film.

Karan said in a Press meet held at Chennai, "Kathavaraayan will have a different base and storyline. I have no hesitation in acting as an illicit arrack seller. After all, I'm an artist and am always ready to perform any kind of a role. The story of the film is something special and touches one's heart. It will suit the style of any artist. Most part of the story will be shot in the dense forest area of Hogenakkal and Salem where the yesteryear block buster Malayur Mambattiyan was shot..."

Salangai Durai, the story writer of Telugu hit D is the director of the movie. Vithisha, one of the busy actresses in Telugu and Kannada is playing the lead lady role for the first time in this film.

Karan said, "Actually there is no repetition of heroines in my films. In my first film, Sanjana did the role and in Karuppasamy it was Meenakshi. Udayathara played the lead lady role in my third film Thee Nagar. Now as a hero, Kathavaraayan is my 4 th film. My director has suggested Vithisha for the lead role. Acting with different heroines in every film gives a new flavour to the film and the fans also enjoy the difference..."

Karan's next heroine also will be a new face. May be he feels that a new face is always safe and convenient!
