Once again actor Vijay has openly declared his intention to act with his 'arch-rival' Ajith in the future- that is if he gets a suitable story. This has created a big hype in the media. Is there anything special about this? Nothing but the irony in this story. Are any of these two actors living in Pakistan or in disputed Aksai Chin?! It is the media's habit, as it always likes to portray two celebrities as rivals to create more sensational stories - particularly in the world of cinema and particularly with two leading rival mass heroes. The fans of these so-called rival heroes even some times indulge in violence when their hero is insulted.

This unpleasant trend has been continuing right from the days of Bagavathar&Chinnappa. After their demise, media projected MGR, the cinema allrounder, and Shivaji Ganesan, the legendary actor, as archrivals in Kollywood. It continued till the establishment of MGR as Chief Minister whom the people supported. The media, however, didn't stop referring to them as archrivals. The next archrival pair made by the media was Rajnikanth-Kamal Hassan. This has resulted in the entire state witnessing fights between the fans and supporters of the two star actors.

Now there is urgency within the media in finding a new set of 'archrivals' since the Kamal and Rajni are all set for retirement. Without any delay, it has fielded the Vijay-Ajith pair as Kollywood's latest arch rivals. It has found some differences and similarities between them and has projected the two good actors as rivals. Now the real fights between the fans of Vijay-Alit continue as a routine formality. Last year, one such fight resulted in the murder of a person. But media isn't ready to stop publishing the usual crap. Every time these heroes met the press, the usual question is raised by the reporters. Will Vijay and Ajith are ready to act together?

Every time, they repeat the same old answer: 'Yes... there is no rivalry between us. If we get a suitable story, we will be ready to act together...' This time also one such 'question' was asked by a reporter at Tuticorin. Vijay immediately repeated the above quoted version without missing a word. On the very next day, this became 'hot news' for the media! You can get ready for more 'archrival news' in future. There are already more acting pairs being picked by the media, which will set the stage for more fan fights. They are none other than Dhanush - Simbu, Vishal -'Jayam' Ravi... This is an endless and shameful chain of arch-rival stories created by literates for the 'illiterates'.
