Kollywood is embroiled in controversies one after the other - Simbu - Nayantara affair, Devi Priya-Issac's blue film, Priya Verma - Arun's elopement, and the arrest of pimp Kannada Prasad. Tamil film industry is completely shaken with a series of problems cropping up from every nook and corner.

Simbu - Nayantara love affair has led virtually to the oft-quoted adage of "washing dirty linen in public". Simbu and Nayantara's melodramatic break-up, the media hype generated, Simbu publicizing their intimately personal photos and the latest the film actors' association decision to back up Simbu have catapulted the artists to the limelight for reasons often deemed too private and intimate.

Devi-Priya-Issac's blue film cds, Issac's second wife Hemamalini filing charges of defamation against the duo, arrest issued against them, the police tracking them like a pack of hounds, anticipatory bail granted and to top it all the clandestine wedding of the actress and the business man has been in focus for a while.

Elopement has become quite common a words to use. Actress Preethi Verma 's elopement with her manager Arun has however created a stir with the actress' mother filing charges against Arun, accusing him of misleading her daughter in spite of having been married earlier and for maintaining illicit sexual relations with many other women.

Kollywood is finally rocked to its very roots with the dramatic arrest of the pimp Kannada Prasad who is said to have been conducting a major prostitution organization involving the top actresses. Following his arrest he has named many of the leading actresses of the day like Meena and the rumour mill spills that most of the actresses are unwilling to speak out and vindicate themselves. They are trapped in a situation where there is no exit and can neither talk in his favour nor against him, as they would be trapped.
