A film based on the real story of Venkatesa Pannaiyar
Tuticorin, the salt and pearl city of the south, will witness a film launch for the first time in its history on the 24th of April. The credit for this goes to Sanjay Ram, who will launch his first home producion from his home town! Sanjay Ram, known as the specialist in encounter stories has now taken a story from the life of Venkatesan Pannaiyar for his next project.
Venkatesa Pannaiyar was a powerful don in Tuticorin district and he controlled a segment of people from his community. But he was killed in an encounter during the AIADMK regime. His wife Radhika Selvi got a ticket from the DMK in the 2004 general elections and won the Lok Sabha seat of Tuticorin.
Now Sanjay Ram will be canning all the events that happened in Pannaiyar's life and it is said that he had already got the approval for the same from Radhika Selvi M.P., wife of Pannaiyar. The film is titled as Moolakkarai Pannaiyar.
Saravanan, an actor who got a fresh lease of life from Paruthi Veeran, will be playing the role of Pannaiyar and debutant Sonika will pair up with him in the role of Radhika Selvi.Athisaya, Dhanya and a new face Anjusha are also there in the cast. Director Sanjay Ram is making his debut as an actor in this film. He plays the character of Polamaadan, who played an important role in the life of the real Pannaiyar. Singer Deepan Chakkaravarthy has also been given an important role in the movie. Yugendiran, another debutant and son of famous singer Malaysia Vasudevan has scored the music and Leo.D is handling the camera.
