Priyamani, one of director Bharathiraja's findings, won lots of acclaim for her village girl role in Paruthiveeran. When she took up the role, casting her was not an option for producers because she hadn't had any hit to boast of then. But director Ameer chose her and offered the lead role in his film Paruthiveeran.

The film's success has now made many producers knock on her door with many roles similar to the one she played in Paruthiveeran. The actress said, "After Paruthiveeran became a hit, many producers offered village based roles. They are not able to separate me from my character Muthazhagu in the film

I'd like to change the perception that my audience has that I am a village girl. I am a very modern person. I was waiting for a story with an urban backdrop when director Bhoopathy Pandiyan offered me a role in Malaikottai. It is a commercial racy entertainer. My role in the film is that of a college girl who is clad in a pavadai - thavani during most of the film. I will look glamourous only in the songs in the film."

Her Telugu film Toss was recently released in which Kannada star Upendra is acting. She also has Yamadonga in which she acting with NTR Jr. In addition to these two films, Mitrudu - a film in which she acting with Tarun - is also in shooting.
