Rekha, the former sex symbol of Bollywood and daughter of the late legend Gemini Ganesan, would make her appearance in Tamil cinema for the first time.

For the past 25 years, many top directors had approached Rekha for their films. But then, she had never evinced an interest in Kollywood despite the fact that she has acted in Telugu and Kannada apart from Hindi. Plans to rope in this ravishing personality did not pay off earlier but now, Tharun Gopi, the director of Thimiru, has succeeded in getting a nod from this gorgeous woman for his forthcoming film starring Simbu in the lead role.

According to the sources, Rekha will be playing as important a role as that of the leading lady in the film. "She plays a positive role in the film and it is a key role," the director told this correspondent.

An assistant told that Rekha will be playing the role of Simbu's mother, but not the usual one. The script gives more importance to that character. That is the reason for her accepting this project. The script of this yet to be titled film is said to have impressed Rekha .

Trisha may be the female lead of this movie, which has Harris Jayaraj composing the music. RD Rajasekhar is the cinematographer of this film.
