Indian superstar Rajinikanth has once again proved that he is the undisputed emperor in the box-office. His latest movie Shivaji is creating records after records every day in domestic as well as overseas box-office. The Chennai City distributor of the film Abhirami Ramanathan has come out with the details of its reverberating collection in all 17 theaters where the film has released.
According to Ramanathan, the film has collected Rs.3.10 crores from the first five days of its release. He said, "In my 34 years experience in the film world, I have never witnessed such a crowd and collection. Many commented that I had paid too much for the City rights of the film ( Rs.6.7 Cr). But I know the power of our superstar. One can invest at any extend on his films. In Abhirami Mega Mall, we have opened the reservation counter again yesterday. Believe it or not, I found the same zeal among the viewers to book the tickets for the shows in July first week! Many people arrived the theater in the late nights and stayed there till the morning to maintain the queue to get their front row tickets (Rs.10 only). I have no words to express my excitement about the response from the people apart from Rajini fans for this film."
The story is totally different in the suburban theaters. Most of the theaters have appointed their own persons to sell the tickets in black market. In some areas, people are selling the tickets for Rs Rs.200-300 outside the counters. Since most of the people think that watching the movie is one of their important duties, the queue before the theaters is growing day by day!
