Finally,
it
is
out
in
the
open.
It
is
the
very
first
of
its
kind
incident
in
the
music
maestro's
orthodox
family.
Younger
son
of
Ilayaraja,
and
leading
music
director
in
the
south,
Yuvan
Shankar
Raja,
has
filed
for
divorce
from
his
wife
Sujaya.
Yuvan
and
Sujaya
met
in
2002
at
a
cultural
program
in
London
and
fell
in
love.
On
September
3,
2003
they
had
a
registered
marriage
in
London
even
without
the
knowledge
of
Yuvan's
father
Ilayaraja.
Then
with
the
consent
of
their
respective
parents,
they
had
a
formal
Hindu
wedding
in
Chennai
on
March
21,
2005,
organized
in
a
lavish
manner.
The
reasons
cited
for
divorce
have
been
'irrevocable
differences',
but
insiders
say
that
Yuvan's
changed
lifestyle,
tight
work
schedule,
and
success
were
the
real
reasons
behind
the
rift
between
the
two.
Both
Yuvan
Shankar
Raja
and
his
wife
Sujaya
have
applied
for
divorce
in
the
family
court
on
Monday.
The
two
came
together
to
the
court
in
a
car
and
filled
up
the
papers
with
a
smile
on
their
faces!
Yuvan
told
media
persons
that
both
had
discussed
the
matter
at
length,
and
that
the
decision
regarding
the
separation
was
final.
"It
is
a
mutual
divorce.
We
won't
like
to
do
mud
slinging
on
each
other.
Both
of
us
are
parting
as
friends…"
But
they
have
to
wait
for
another
6
months
for
the
hearing
of
the
case.
Maybe
time
will
heal
the
rift
between
the
couple!
