Bhagyaraj's Parijatham won the Best Tamil Film Award for the year 2006. Saranya-Prithviraj starrer Parijatham is the comeback film of K Bhagyaraj nearly after seven years. In this film, he introduced his only daughter Saranya as heroine.

Bhagyaraj's talented script with his typical comedy lines made the film as one of the big hits in that year. Now the film has won the National Award in the Best Film category for the year 2006.

"The announcement gives me more enthusiasm to make clean entertainers like Parijatham in future. Many of my films became Box Office hits in the past. But winning a National Award is something special and really I am thrilled. It is a recognition for my hard work," said an elated Bhagyaraj.

Bhagyaraj, the one and only filmmaker who gave 9 silver jubilee films in a row in the eighties, is now busy with making a film Puthiya Vaarpugal with his son Santhanu.
