poet
cum
writer
in
Tamil
cinema
and
literature,
will
become
The
court
Poet
of
Tamil
Nadu
(Arasavai
Kavignar)
soon.
Sources
said
that
the
chief
minister
of
Tamil
Nadu
Dr
Karunanithi
will
announce
his
name
officially
in
a
day
or
two.
The
post,
created
by
the
former
Chief
Minister
Dr
MGR,
was
first
occupied
by
Kaviyarasu
Kannadasan
in
1978
(till
his
death)
and
Pulavar
Pulamaipithan
and
then
it
was
offered
to
Kavignar
Muthulingam.
Since
then
no
one
has
been
appointed
as
Arasavai
Kavingar
till
the
date.
The
present
CM
is
said
to
have
decided
to
have
the
renowned
lyricist
cum
poet
Vairamuthu
for
this
prestigious
seat.
Vairamuthu,
who
has
written
thousands
of
lyrics
for
hundreds
of
films,
has
also
penned
number
of
poems.
Apart
from
the
poetry,
he
has
also
mastered
the
art
of
novel
writing.
The
five
times
President
Award
winner
for
his
best
lyrics,
Vairamuthu
has
also
received
the
prestigious
Sahitya
Academy
Award
for
his
novel
Kallikkaattu
Ithihasam.
He
was
also
conferred
with
the
honor
of
Padma
Shri
in
2003.
