Most of the awarders attended the function and received their award from the governor. But there were some noted absentees in the event. Those were leading film maker cheran,kank,saroja devi,vineeth and veteran actress Saroja Devi.

Sources close to director cheran,kank,saroja devi,vineeth and Saroja Devi had it that it was so dishonorable for them to receive the award with one film old actors. They claimed that it was too late that the government had recognized their contribution to the art.

Even after these controversies, the Kalaimamani award committee has announced that the award will be sent to the respective awarders who did not make it to the function. It is worthy to mention here that actor Vineeth who was not in the awarders" list earlier also received it later during the function!
