Cheran's Pokkisham, a period film

Director turned actor Cheran released the audio of his much awaited film Pokkisham at the studios of Kalaignar TV yesterday.

Produced by Hitesh Jhabak, the film's shooting is nearing its completion and Cheran is planning to release it after the declaration of election results.

Cheran, Padmapriya, cameraman Rajesh Yadav and music director Sabesh - Murali met the press at Four Frames preview Theatre on Sunday evening.

Cheran siad, "Pokkisham is a period film based on a classic love story between a Hindu boy Lenin working in Kolkata and a Muslim girl Katheera in Nagore. The film is set in 70"s, and like my earlier films Autograph and Thavamai Thavamirunthu, the story is told in the flashback mode with some soul stirring melodies by Sabesh Murali. Yugabharathy has written all the lyrics of the songs."

Padmapriya plays Kadeera a Muslim girl and remarked that there it is a well-written role.

There are 11 songs in the album and when asking about it Cheran commented, "There are three songs and seven bits. I will try to accomodate all the songs if the story allows..."

The film is scheduled for release in the last week of May.
