Dhanush and Genelia D' Souza starrer Uthama Puthiran,
which was released last week, has landed in a caste trouble. A
group of people protested in front of a cinema theatre in
Coimbatore on Tuesday (Nov 9), claiming that the movie has
portrayed the Gounder (Kongu Vellalar) community in bad taste.
Kongu Vellalar activists staged a protest, shouting slogans
against the movie, alleging that the movie has hurt the sentiments
of the community. “Some scenes in Uthama Puthiran are
objectionable and we request the concerned people to stop the
screening immediately, " said a protester.
However, the film-makers said that the movie does not have any
objectionable scenes and it is a good family entertainer.
Meanwhile, Uthama Puthiran has received good reviews from
critics and audience.
