The audiences then were advised not to go for second shows(night show) as those watching the first shows would chew up beetle leaves (vethalai) and spit it on the sand covering them. Those going to the second show would have blood stained dothis. And there was no sound or background music. A person standing behind the audience would give a running commentary on the film. But now technology has improved a lot and surprise us every day.
Recently, AR Rahman scored music for the theme song for the World Classical Tamil Conference. He was sitting in London and the lyrics were sent to him. He composed the tune from there, while veena music was recorded in Switzerland and the vocals in London, and after making the necessary corrections the song is heard here in Chennai. That is technology.
