Chief
Minister
M
Karunanidhi
was
the
chief
guest
at
the
inauguration
of
the
refurnished
Abhirami
7
star
theater
in
Chennai.
For
Karunanidhi
it
was
a
walk
down
memory
lane
as
he
recalled
his
days
in
watching
movies.
Karunanidhi
said:
"Those
days
we
watched
first
silent
movies
sitting
on
sand,
as
I
could
not
afford
tickets
to
the
bamboo
benches
or
the
first
class
with
rocking
chairs.
The
audiences
then
were
advised
not
to
go
for
second
shows(night
show)
as
those
watching
the
first
shows
would
chew
up
beetle
leaves
(vethalai)
and
spit
it
on
the
sand
covering
them.
Those
going
to
the
second
show
would
have
blood
stained
dothis.
And
there
was
no
sound
or
background
music.
A
person
standing
behind
the
audience
would
give
a
running
commentary
on
the
film.
But
now
technology
has
improved
a
lot
and
surprise
us
every
day.
Recently,
AR
Rahman
scored
music
for
the
theme
song
for
the
World
Classical
Tamil
Conference.
He
was
sitting
in
London
and
the
lyrics
were
sent
to
him.
He
composed
the
tune
from
there,
while
veena
music
was
recorded
in
Switzerland
and
the
vocals
in
London,
and
after
making
the
necessary
corrections
the
song
is
heard
here
in
Chennai.
That
is
technology.
I
appreciate
Abhirami
Ramanathan
for
introducing
many
new
facilities
in
his
theaters
and
giving
new
world
class
experience
for
film
viewers..."
Abhirami
Ramanathan
said:
"It
is
state
of
art
7
star
theater
and
has
special
massage
chairs
with
a
waiter
on
call
to
serve
lunch,
high-tea
and
dinner.
Call
Taxi
with
pick
up
and
drop
facilities
and
pre-paid
auto
service
is
also
offered.
It
will
be
a
pleasant
experience
to
watch
a
film
here
in
Abhirami."
