Vijayakanth succeeds in his first attempt

Viruthagiri marks the debut of Vijayakanth as a director. The actor, who has appeared and wowed the audience in variety of roles in the past, has wielded the microphone for the first time in his career. In his first attempt has done a good job as a director, though he is not supported by an equally good script.

The story of Viruthagiri revolves around the life of a police officer played by Vijayakanth himself. Everybody, who watche the film will be aware of the fact that the constable in is not a run of the mill police official and is largely different from the ones we come across in real life, in the sense that the actor is honest about his job and is very hardworking. And while these are not qualities that are unseen in police officers, it is strong straight forward nature that makes the police officer stand out from the rest in service.

While the storyline and the script of Viruthagiri are not much to talk about, it is the music by Sundar C Babu, which has caught the attention of Kollywood and has gone on to be a raging hit in South India.
