Vikram-Mahesh Babu joining hands for Mani Ratnam's next

The biggest stars of South India, Vikram and Mahesh Babu are acting together in Mani Ratnam's next film. The movie is said to be the screen-adaptation of the Tamil historical novel 'Ponniyin Selvan', which has been written by Kalki Krishnamurthy.

The epic film is based on the the story of the Cholas and Pallava Empires. Vikram is said to be playing the role of Rajaraja Chola, one of the greatest kings in Tamil history, who ruled in the 10th-11th century AD and Mahesh Babu as the Pallava King.

The mega-budget movie is produced by Sun Pictures. It will hit the floors in 2011. Other details about the film are still under wraps.
