Anushka – new addition for Ponniyin Selvan

Rumours are rife that Singam star Anushka Shetty is the new addition for Mani Ratnam's period film Ponniyin Selvan. The director has signed the actress for the Pazhuvur Ilaya Rani from the historical novel.

Anushka Shetty has reportedly given the nod to play the female lead in the film. The actress has recently met the director and heard the story from Mani Ratnam. A source close to the actress has told the Times of India that she is excited to work with the award winning director. Anushka will have a complete different look in the film and she has given bulk dates for the film, source adds.

Meanwhile, Vijay has given the nod to play Vandiyathevan's role, Aarya will portray the role of Rajakesari Varman aka Arulmozhi Varman's role and Mahesh Babu has been signed to enact Adithya Karikalar's role from Kalki Krishnamurthy's classic novel.

However, the estimated budget of the film is said to be Rs. 200 crores and Sun Pictures is producing the film.
