Selvaraghvan's Mayakkam Enna has opened up to mixed response at the Tamil Box Office. Despite getting positive response from the critics, the recently released movie has not impressed a section of the audience.
Traders say that Mayakkam Enna had a decent start on the first shows on its opening day. However, good word-of-mouth, which spread like a wildfire among urban audience, boosted the collections on the Friday evening shows.
On Saturday and Sunday, Mayakkam Enna had 80-95% occupancy on most of the multiplexes in Chennai. Traders add that it had somewhere around 55-65% occupancy on single screens on the release day and it improved by 10-15% during the weekends.
However, the movie has not gone well with the mass audience, as it does not have regular masala elements. It affected the movie to some extent, concludes a source.
Mayakkam Enna starring Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay hit the screens on November 25 in the US, UK, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, Australia and India. It released in approximately 75 screens in and around Chennai.
