Kurian,
who
changed
her
name
to
Nayantara
after
entering
film
industry,
has
converted
to
the
Hinduism
from
the
Christianity
on
Sunday
(August
7).
She
took
the
changeover
ritual
at
Arya
Samaj
Temple
in
Chennai.
Clad
in
a
traditional
saree,
Nayantara,
who
came
to
Chennai
from
Kochi
yesterday,
performed
a
ritual
called
'shuddi'(purification)
and
participated
in
the
process
of
transition
at
Arya
Samaj.
The
temple
priests
chanted
prayers
and
performed
yagna
and
offered
her
the
celestial
ghee
lamp
arathi.
She
was
also
told
to
chant
some
sacred
hymns
and
was
given
basin
petals
and
holy
water
as
the
sign
of
conversion.
Responding
on
the
issue,
Nayantara
has
claimed
that
she
is
happily
converted
to
the
Hinduism
and
it
was
her
own
decision
to
change
the
religion.
