Sun Network extorted Rs.60 cr from Nithyananda?

By Ramchander

Trouble-hit Swami Nithyananda has lodged a complaint against the Sun Pictures with City Police Commissioner. He has alleged that Kalanidhi Maran-owned company manufactured a fake video, which had resemblance with him, and made false allegations against him.

Swami Nithyananda later addressed the media and said that the Sun Network threatened him to pay Rs. 100 crore to stop the airing of the controversial video. However, they managed to get Rs 60 crore, yet the channel continued to air the clipping. When he was asked as to why he paid that amount, Swami replied, “When a crorepati like Aircel Sivasankaran can be armtwisted into paying up, what option did a sanyasi like me have."

His complaint comes a day actress Ranjitha filed a complaint against Sun Network and a few Tamil dailies. She alleged that the television channel aired a morphed video clip, which claimed that it was her in the sleazy video with Swami Nithyananda.

It may be recalled that Sun TV and its sister channels aired the controversial video on March 10, 2010.
