Vikram's Rajapattai in troubled waters

By Ramchander

Vikram's upcoming movie Rajapattai has landed in trouble, as the producer of the film Singanamala Ramesh has been arrested on charges of threatening to kill a film financier. He was taken into police custody on Friday in Chennai.

Producer Singanamala Ramesh, who has been evading arrest for a few months, was arrested at the Chennai Airport. Telugu film financier named Jayanth Reddy had lodged a complaint against the producer and Bhanu, the alleged killer of Maddelacheruvu Suri (the character played by Surya in Rakta Charitra), for blackmailing and threatening him in February 2011.

Singanamala Ramesh, who has produced some high-budget Telugu films, is making Rajapattai to launch his sons Prathish and Santhosh as producers. The bilingual movie is being made on the banner SP Creations. Now that he has been arrested, it is not sure whether the film, which has started shooting, will proceed or will come to halt.

Rajapattai, which is directed by Susindran, features Deeksha Seth and Mithra Kurian in the female lead roles. It was launched on June 7 in Chennai.
