Ek
Tha
Tiger
had
one
of
the
biggest
releases
in
Tamil
Nadu
this
year.
The
Salman
Khan
starrer
Hindi
movie
not
only
set
a
new
benchmark
at
Indian
Box
Office
but
also
at
Chennai
Box
Office.
Now,
yesteryear
actress
Sridevi's
comeback
movie
English
Vinglish
seems
to
be
ready
to
break
the
record
of
Ek
Tha
Tiger,
as
it
is
getting
much-bigger
release
than
the
Sallu
film
in
the
state.
The
Salman's
movie
had
released
in
about
50
screens
in
Tamil
Nadu
and
20
screens
in
Chennai
on
August
15.
Now,
Sridevi's
English
Vinglish
(Aangilam
Vaangilam
in
Tamil)
is
hitting
the
screens
in
around
170
screens
(includes
Tamil
version)
in
Tamil
Nadu.
Traders
say
that
two
factors
have
made
the
makers
of
the
film
to
have
a
larger
release
than
Ek
Tha
Tiger.
The
first
one
being
the
star
power
of
Ajith
Kumar,
whose
posters
and
trailer
in
the
movie
have
got
massive
response
from
netizens.
And
the
next
is
Sridevi,
who
made
it
big
in
Tamil
films
before
moving
to
the
Bollywood.
While
the
fan
following
of
Ajith
is
well-known,
the
yesteryear
actress'
popularity
proves
again
that
people
in
Tamil
Nadu
love
to
see
her
even
today,
say
traders.
Ek
Tha
Tiger
was
the
first
Bollywood
movie
of
the
year
to
cross
Rs
1
crore
in
Tamil
Nadu
and
it
was
the
fastest
Rs
1
crore
grosser
Hindi
film
in
Tamil
Nadu
too.
Now,
in
all
probabilities,
Sridevi's
English
Vinglish
is
set
to
break
the
records
of
the
Salman
Khan
starrer
movie
in
the
state,
thereby
creating
a
new
record
at
the
Box
Office
in
Tamil
Nadu.
However,
Ajith
Kumar
has
done
a
cameo
in
Aangilam
Vaangilam
without
even
charging
a
single
penny.
He
is
playing
one
of
the
influential
characters
in
Sridevi's
life
in
the
forthcoming
movie.
His
portions
were
shot
in
Mumbai.
