Chennai: Mani Ratnam, on a rare note, is wrapping up a film in a quick time. The maverick filmmaker, who often takes a long time to complete a product, is on the verge of finishing the shoots of his forthcoming movie Kadal.

Kadal is expected to be completed by this month end, say reports. Currently, the unit is filming in Kerala and recently the shooting of the film was also held at Vembanad Lake, which is believed to be the longest lake in India, near Alapuzha.

The movie was kicked-off on March 1, 2012, at Manapad and the scenes involved Arvind Swamy and Lakshmi Manchu. Later, the movie was shot in at Kottayam, Muhamma, backwaters, Tuticorin in April.

After completing the first schedule, the film unit of Kadal was off to Andam and Nicobar Islands for its next phase of the filming. Some of the important scenes were canned at the beautiful locales of the islands in the 15-day schedule. However, the post-production works are expected to start in October and it is likely to release in October or November.

Kadal marks the debut of Gautham, the son of actor Karthik, and Tulasi, the daughter of actress Radha. The latter was roped in after Samantha walked out of the film citing date issues. The forthcoming movie also features Arjun Sarja, Arvind Swamy and Lakshmi Manchu in important roles.
