Mani
Ratnam,
on
a
rare
note,
is
wrapping
up
a
film
in
a
quick
time.
The
maverick
filmmaker,
who
often
takes
a
long
time
to
complete
a
product,
is
on
the
verge
of
finishing
the
shoots
of
his
forthcoming
movie
Kadal.
Kadal
is
expected
to
be
completed
by
this
month
end,
say
reports.
Currently,
the
unit
is
filming
in
Kerala
and
recently
the
shooting
of
the
film
was
also
held
at
Vembanad
Lake,
which
is
believed
to
be
the
longest
lake
in
India,
near
Alapuzha.
The
movie
was
kicked-off
on
March
1,
2012,
at
Manapad
and
the
scenes
involved
Arvind
Swamy
and
Lakshmi
Manchu.
Later,
the
movie
was
shot
in
at
Kottayam,
Muhamma,
backwaters,
Tuticorin
in
April.
After
completing
the
first
schedule,
the
film
unit
of
Kadal
was
off
to
Andam
and
Nicobar
Islands
for
its
next
phase
of
the
filming.
Some
of
the
important
scenes
were
canned
at
the
beautiful
locales
of
the
islands
in
the
15-day
schedule.
However,
the
post-production
works
are
expected
to
start
in
October
and
it
is
likely
to
release
in
October
or
November.
Kadal
marks
the
debut
of
Gautham,
the
son
of
actor
Karthik,
and
Tulasi,
the
daughter
of
actress
Radha.
The
latter
was
roped
in
after
Samantha
walked
out
of
the
film
citing
date
issues.
The
forthcoming
movie
also
features
Arjun
Sarja,
Arvind
Swamy
and
Lakshmi
Manchu
in
important
roles.
