T Ramesh set to remake Agni Natchathiram in Tamil, Telugu

Producer T Ramesh, who is producing Vishal's next movie Samar, has revealed that he has acquired the remake rights of Director Mani Ratnam’s 1988 blockbuster Agni Natchathiram, which will be made afresh in Tamil and Telugu. He says that he is currently holding talks with several top stars in Tamil and Telugu, and will announce the cast and crew soon.

In an interview with a leading English daily, T Ramesh confirmed the news about Agni Natchathiram remake. The producer said that he has got the Tamil and Telugu remake rights of the film, which is a cult classic. “I’m thrilled about remaking it as a bilingual,” the English daily quotes Ramesh as gushing.

Talking about the cast and crew of Agni Natchathiram remake, Ramesh said that it would be a big project and would star one top star from both Tamil and Telugu industries. Currently, he is in talks with some of the top stars in Kollywood and Tollywood for the film. The producer added, “I will announce the cast and crew of the film in a couple of weeks.”

However, Agni Natchathiram is about two half-brothers, who come into conflict with each other in their claim for legitimacy as sons of a common father. Prabhu Ganesan and Karthik Muthuraman's performances and Ilaiya Raja's soundtracks were the major highlights of the film, which was dubbed in Telugu as Gharshana and remade in Hindi as Vansh as well.
