The filmmaker, in his decade journey in Indian cinema, has not tasted a single failure till date. Unlike other directors, he did not limit himself to Tamil films rather he did Telugu and Hindi films and earned a name for himself.
The interesting part of his story is that AR Murugadoss, in order to give chance to young talents, ventured into production with Engaeyum Eppothum and has found success as a producer too. Now, for the first time, he has directed Ilayathalapathy Vijay in Thuppakki, which will hit the screens on November 13.

AR Murugadoss made his debut in Dheena. It was a career-changing film for not only Ajith Kumar but also for the director, whose talent of telling story came to light in his very first film
Absolute violence, rowdyism and action sequence with the underworld story impressed the audience. It has to be noted that Ajith Kumar got the pet name 'Thala' after this film. Though it got mixed reviews from critics, the film, which also featured Suresh Gopi and Laila in important roles, became one of the superhits on 2001.
Ramanna starring Vijayakanth tells the story of a professor, who uproots corruption by building a strong student chain of network, killing the bribe takers and giving justice to the common man. It was made in several languages like - Tagore in Telugu, which starred Chiranjeevi, and Vishusena in Kannada starring Dr Vishnuvardhan, and all the versions were declared blockbusters.
This film will remain a landmark film in his career.
Ghajini was a revenge saga, which starred Surya, Asin and Nayantara. It has a riveting story, which was told with flourish by Murugadoss. This was made in Telugu and Tamil, and both the versions became one of the biggest hits of 2005. Murugadoss and Surya earned a good number of fan followers in Andhra after this film.
AR Murugadoss directed Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi in Stalin. It was a straight Telugu film made exclusively for the Tollywood audience. It was said that the story of the film was written keeping Chiranejeevi's political plans in mind. The film, which also starred Trisha Krishnan, Khushboo and Prakash Raj in important roles, was declared superhit.
AR Murugadoss remade his Ghajini in Bollywood with the same name. Aamir Khan, Asin and Jiah Khan starred in the psychological thriller movie, which was inspired by Christopher Nolan's Memento. Noted Hindi critic Taran Adarsh had praised the story of the film and said that it was a breathless, exciting, heart-breaking and exhilarating story at the same time.
7aum Arivu (2011)
Surya and Shruti Hassan starrer 7aum Arivu was the film, which got mixed reviews from the audience. Nonetheless, the movie did wonderful business. More importantly, the film was a massive hit in Andhra.
7aum Arivu was a science-fiction that connected the link between Tamil Nadu and China, specifically, Pallava king-turned-monk Bodhidharama, the transmitter of Zen.
