The moment the trailer of the Rajinikanth's Sivaji 3D version was released, there were buzz that the superstar's movie would release in September. In fact, the makers of the film had also revealed that they are looking out for a perfect date to release the Tamil film. But as they plan for the release, traders anticipated that it would clash with Vijay's Thuppakki and Surya's Maattrraan, which are likely to release in September. However, Rajini has asked the Sivaji producers to avoid the clash.

Grapevine has Rajinikanth came to know that Thuppakki and Maattrraan are set for September release. And on the other end, the makers of Sivaji are planning to release in the same month. It is well-known that the superstar's movies always pull the audience. If his film is released during the same time, the movie is very likely to affect Vijay and Surya's films. Sensing it, Rajini asked the AVM bosses to avoid the clash, as he does not want his Sivaji to trouble their movies. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth's next movie Kochadaiyaan, which also features Deepika Padukone in the leads, will release on 12.12.12.

However, Sivaji is a political-thriller directed by Shankar. It had AR Rahman's music and it was produced by MS Guhan-M Sarvanan. The movie featured Shriya Saran and Suman in the key roles. The movie tells the story of a NRI, who comes to India to do something good to the society. But falls into the trap of politician's devised plan to lose out all his properties.
