The US theatrical rights of Vijay starrer Thuppakki has been sold for a good price. ATMUS Entertainment, which had recently distributed Ajith Kumar's Billa 2 and Surya's Maattrraan, has bagged the rights.
Reports say that many others, including FICUS and GK Media, were in the race but it was ATMUS Entertainment which had the last laugh. FICUS has paid a whopping amount for the rights and it is said to be the highest-ever paid price for a Vijay film.
The actor's star value and the director's success rate has fetched the undisclosed huge price for the distribution rights. However, the exact price paid for the rights has not been revealed.
Thuppakki will hit the screens worldwide on November 9. In Tamil Nadu, the film is expected to release in 450 screens. It is an action-thriller directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu.
Thuppakki features Vijay, Kajal Aggarwal and Vidyut Jamwal in the leads. The movie is set in Mumbai, and Ilayathalapathy plays the role of a cop.
