Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 has created a history at Box Office by collecting Rs 36 crores (Three Versions) at Box Office on the first day. It was followed by a stupendous collections on the following day too. The most interesting factor is that the Hindi film has done a rocking business at TN Box Office!
Tamil Nadu has never been a good market for Hindi films. It is only in the recent years, some of the Hindi flicks have done decent business. The movies starring Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan did decent business. Now, Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 has erased all those records as it has written a new history at collection centres in Tamil-speaking state.
Trader reports say that Dhoom 3 has raked in Rs 1.63 crores (nett) from Tamil Nadu and Kerala Box Office. Sources say that from Tamil Nadu, it has earned more than Rs 50 lakhs on the first day. This figure is big compared to any margin for a Hindi flick in the Southern state. A trader claims, "Aamir Khan's movies did not get such reception in the past. His Ghajini and 3 Idiots had garnered decent response and his Taare Zameen Par did perform well at multiplexes."
He adds, "His Dhoom 3 has turned out to be a superhit in Tamil Nadu too. The film was overwhelmingly welcomed by youths in the state."
Release Day Response In Chennai
On the release day, Dhoom 3 got almost cent percent occupancy at multiplexes in Chennai. But if the whole of Tamil Nadu is taken into consideration, the average occupancy comes down to just 55 percent.
Hindi Movies Are Growing In TN
The trader explains, "Hindi movies are not very popular in Tamil Nadu like in Karnataka or Andhra Pradesh. The Bollywood movie is very much restricted to Chennai."
Mother Tongue Factor
The trader added, "But in case of Dhoom 3, it was released in the dubbed Tamil version. Cine-goers, who are aware of Dhoom franchise, got an opportunity to watch in their mother tongue. Hence, the film managed to earn such an amount."
On the second day too, Dhoom 3 ran packed into houses in Chennai. The multiplexes had tough time in meeting the demand due to other local releases,"
Best Efforts Of Distributor
It is due to the best efforts of distributor Sathyam Cinemas, Dhoom 3 managed to get 30+ shows on Friday and Saturday.
Dhoom 3 has reportedly made close to Rs 2 crores (Nett) on Saturday from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The underlining part of the story is that the collections for the film's dubbed versions have started doing well.
Dhoom 3 Affected By Local Movies
Dhoom 3 was highly affected by Tamil new releases like Karthi's Biriyani and Jeeva's Endrendrum Punnagai. The Hindi movie would have got more number of screens if the new Kollywood flicks were not released now.
The collections of Dhoom 3 look amazingly brilliant worldwide. The film is getting ready to set new Box Office records.
Dhoom 3 has not only done record collections in India, but also in countries like Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US along with the UAE.
100 Crore Club
At this speed, Dhoom 3 will join the Rs 100-crore-club in next one or two days. The dubbed versions are also likely to set new records in Southern states.
Dhoom 3 is an action-thriller stylishly made by Yash Raj Films and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. The movie stars Aamir Khan, Katirna Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and others in the cast.
