Tamil films, like every other film industry, has produced classics in romantic genre. Every generation will get to see a new bunch of on-screen couples. While a few have impressed in particular films, some have remained evergreen and most memorable pairs in the minds of audience.

MGR-Saroja Devi
MGR and Saroja Devi's combo was probably the first combo that created magic in Tamil films. Between 1958-67, they delivered a series of hits and acted in above 25 films. Thirudathey, Thai Sollai Thattathey, Paasam,Thaayaikaatha Thanayan, Asai Mugam, Periya Idathu Penn, Dharmam Thalaikkakkum, Neethikku Pin Pasam, Pannakkara Kudumbam, Padakoti, Nadodi, Thalibahakiyam, Naan Anayittaal, Petralthaan Pillaiya and Parrakkum Pavai are the popular films.
Sivaji Ganeshan-Padmini
Like MGR and Saroja Devi, Sivaji and Padmini's combo used to set fire on-screen. It is for the same reason the jodi is considered as one of the ideal on-screen pairs even today. Thanga Padhumai, Anbu, Thillaanaa Mohanambal, Edhir Paradhathu, Kumara Sambhavam are the hits to name a few.
Gemini Ganesan-Savithri
Gemini Ganesan - the Kaadhal Mannan of Tamil Cinema, and Savithri pair took the Tamil film industry by storm. They starred in 44 films together and secretly married in 1952 during the making of Manam Pola Mangalyam and began living together in 1956. Some of the memorable movies were Vanjikottai Valiban, Missiamma, Meenda Sorgam, Karpagam and Nann Avanillai.
Rajinikanth-Sripriya
Rajinikanth-Sripriya's jodi was part of 28 movies and is called as the ever-green jodi. Billa, Annai Oru Alayam, Bairavi, Polladhavan and Aadu Puli Attam are some of their best films.
Karthik-Revathy
Karthik and Revathy pair crackled on the screen with mesmerising chemistry. Their combo in Mouna Ragam, Idhaya Thamarai and Kizhaku Vaasal worked big time. People assumed then that they would tie the knot, which never happened.

Simran and Vijay's combo is one of the best jodis in the last decade. Their chemistry have worked well in the films like Thullatha Manavum Thullum, Priyamanavale and Udaya.
Ajith-Shalini
Ajith and Shalini's combo worked big time in Amarakalam and they turned their on-screen love to real life soon. They are considered as one of the best real-life jodis too.
Srikanth-Sneha
Srikanth-Sneha's on-screen chemistry impressed audience in the hit movies like April Madathil and Parthipan Kanavu. There were even reports that they were in love, but with Sneha getting married to Prasanna, all those reports have turned false.

Surya and Jyothika are one of the hottest couples in Tamil film industry after Ajith Kumar-Shalini. They have worked together in successful films Poovellam Kettupar, Kaakha Kaakha and Perazhagan. After dating for several years, they tied the knot in 2006.
Simbu-Trisha
In the recent years, only Silambarasan and Trisha's chemistry in Vinnaithandi Varuvaya has left an impact. Though a sequel to the film was on the cards, nothing has worked so far to bring the jodi once again on-screen.
