AR Rahman's Kadal Song Nominated For MTV EMA

A song from Oscar Award winner AR Rahman's Tamil movie Kadal has got a nomination for an international awards. 'Nenjukkule' track from the Mani Ratnam directorial flick is one of the songs, which is representing the country in the Best Worldwide Act Category at the forthcoming MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).

'Nenjukkule' was crooned by Shaktishree Gopalan. It was penned by Vairamuthu. The song had become one of the chartbusters. Rahman is keeping his fingers crossed. "It feels extremely nice to be nominated, especially an awards like EMA which recognises musicians on a global scale. I am keeping my fingers crossed ... may the lucky one win," said Rahman in a statement.

Apart from AR Rahman, Punjabi rap artist Yo Yo Honey Singh has also been nominated by MTV India to represent the country. He has been selected for his song 'Bring me back'. Along with it, three Hindi songs have been nominated from India.

Every year, the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) felicitates best songs and artists of the year. India, Africa and Middle East are part of one cluster and the nominations will compete with each other. MTV nominates five artists-songs from each country. The event will held on November 10 in Amsterdam.
