Mani Ratnam approaches Rahman for Aamir Khan-Kareena's project!

Post Kadal disaster, Mani Ratnam is reportedly planning a big project. The maverick filmmaker is secretly gearing up for a bilingual (Tamil and Hindi) made on the issue of India and Pakistan. As per the reports, he has zeroed in on Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor to play the lead roles. Now, the director has started finalising his technical team.

Sticking to his tried and tested combo, Mani Ratnam has approached Oscar Award winner AR Rahman to compose the music. It comes as no surprise as the director's movies in the last decade has the music of Mozart of Madras. There were reports that Ilaiyaraaja would be scoring tunes for the mega-budget project but now the buzz says that it is Rahman, who has bagged Mani's project again.

According to reports, Mani Ratnam is ready to leave his last few failures behind and has planned the movie based on the India-Pakistan partition. It is said to be a bilingual movie and the filmmaker has started working seriously on the project. Continue reading the story on the slideshow...

He has also roped in Rensil D'Silva, who had written script for Aamir Khan's earlier Hindi movie Rang De Basanthi. However, it is not sure whether the talks for the project with Aamir Khan and Kareena have started or not.

It has to be noted that Kareena had earlier worked with the director in Yuva. On the other end, Mani Ratnam is not still sure of casting Aamir and Kareena in the Tamil version.

It is because his earlier movie Dil Se starring Shahrukh Khan was not well-received by Kollywood audience. There are also chances of Mani roping in top actors of Tamil for this forthcoming project.

However, nothing has been finalised yet and Mani Ratnam has not opened up about the developments till date about the film.
