Rajinikanth, the superstar of Tamil films, is turning a year older today (December 12). The actor, who started his career as a small-time villain, has one of the biggest fan followers worldwide. Yet he has remained a humble, simple and down-to-earth person, which puts him above among his competitors.
Having born in a Maharashtrian family to mother Jijabai and father Ramoji Rao Gaekwad, his original name was Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. He was brought up in Bangalore along with two older brothers and a sister. As the economic condition in their family was not good, he was forced to do odd jobs at young age.
Rajinikanth had a passion for acting from his school days. He used to participate in dramas and other cultural programmes. He was popular among his friends for his styles. Not to forget his style of tossing cigarette up in the air to catch it with his lip, which became a trademark mannerism of Rajini in his films.
But he never dreamt of acting in films until his close friend Raj Bahadur urged him to follow his dreams rather than limiting his life as a bus conductor at Bangalore Transport Service (BTS). This made him to come to Chennai and the rest remains the history.
On the special day of the superstar, we would like to bring you some never seen photos of Rajini with some interesting facts about him. Find it on the slideshow...
