Illayathalapathy Vijay participated in the opening day of ongoing four-day Indian Centenary function which was kick started on Saturday (September 21). The event was held at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai. CM Jayalalithaa along with yesteryear actress B Sarojadevi, Simran and others inaugurated the function.
There were speculations prior to the event that Illayathalapathy Vijay missing the event. It was said that the actor was disappointed with the development over the release issues of his Thalaivaa last month. His Tamil film faced a lot of issues to release and it was not released in the state for close to two weeks for strange reasons.
Several theatres in Tamil Nadu had received a bomb threat during the release of Thalaivaa, which was coming up with the tagline - Time to Lead. Hence, no cinema halls came forward to release the Tamil movie despite it hitting screens all across the world on August 9. The state government refused its hand in the ban but no men from the industry lent their support to Vijay and his movie.
