Raja Rani Fails To Beat Thalaivaa

Arya and Nayantara's combo has done a magic again. The jodi, which had earlier impressed Tamil audience with hit movie Boss Engira Bhaskaran, has tasted success with last-week release Raja Rani again.

Raja Rani has got a good opening at Box Office all across the globe. The movie, which was released last Friday (September 27), is riding on the good word-of-mouth from the audience.

As traders predicted, Raja Rani raked in close to Rs 10 crores at the Tamil Box Office. But a fact that surprised many was the collection of the movie at the International Box Office. Especially in the UK, the movie has made a wonderful business.

Raja Rani was released in 17 screens last weekend in the UK. It is said to be a decent figure considering that the movie doesn't have an A-list star. Well, the distributor's confidence on the product worked big time, as it earned £ 55,023 [Rs. 55.64 lakhs] in the opening weekend. But it could not beat the record set by Illayathalapathy Vijay's Thalaivaa.

Traders say that Thalaivaa starred an A-list actor. As a result, the movie got a wide release and that factor helped the flick to do good business.

Arya

Whereas in Raja Rani's case, the movie features Arya in the lead role and he is yet to enter the list of A-listers. Hence, the movie could not even come close to the Thalaivaa feat.

Singam 2

Surya's Singam 2 is in the next place after Thalaivaa at the UK Box Office. It had raked in Rs 99 lakhs in the first weekend.

Attarintiki Daredi

Coming back to Raja Rani, the movie had faced competition from Telugu movie Attarintiki Daredi.

Ya Ya And VVS

Meanwhile, other movies like Ya Ya and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam did not give fight to the newly released Raja Rani.

Romantic Entertainer

Raja Rani is a romantic movie directed by newcomer Atlee Kumar, a former associate of Shankar.

Cast

Raja Rani also features Jai and Nazriya Nazim in the key roles. Sathyaraj and Santhanam are in the supporting cast.

Remake

Now, the talks are their to make the movie in other languages. It is reported that AR Murugadoss wants to remake it in Hindi.
