Revisiting Vasantha Maligai

Who said records are only meant to be broken? Records are also created to celebrate, remember and mark the significance of events in the books of history. When we revisit those landmarks, we can't help but think how it would have been if it is recreated in the present. Isn't it? This thought might not hold true in every field but it can certainly happen in the film industry. While some have chosen to remake classics, others take re-release as an option.

In recent months, many classics have been remade in Tamil film industry. Notable among them is Rajinikanth's Sivaji - The Boss. The superstar's movie, which was the biggest hit of its time, was re-released in 3D format. Now, Sivaji Ganeshan and Vanisri's Vasantha Maligai is ready to appear before the audience in a colour format. Well, BV Murali and C Srinivasulu of Sai Ganesh Films have digitally restored Vasantha Maligai (Joyful Palace) in cinemascope. The good response received for Sivaji's Karnan, which was released last year, has made them to restore this movie, which had broken many Box Office records then.

Vasantha Maligai is releasing tomorrow and the film is expected to run packed houses at multiplexes in weekends. Sivaji's Karnan had got such response last year during the same time. Continue to read on the slideshow...
