Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan will be seen romancing Deepika Padukone, a Tamil Nadu girl in the movie Chennai Express. In the trailer, which was released recently, we saw the actress mouthing some Tamil dialogues. But the interesting or embarrassing part of the story is that Shahrukh made some expressions that made the Tamilians on the sets to wonder what he meant to say!
As we all know, a huge number of Tamil crew have worked in
Chennai Express. In fact, the main crew are from South
starting from director Rohit Shetty, a Mangalorean, to actors
Deepika Padukone (Kannadiga), Sathyaraj (Tamilian) and Priyamani to
writer Madi and even the cameramen Dadli and Guru.
During the shooting of Chennai Express in Munnar, around 300 dancers from South took part in the filming. In order to communicate, Shahrukh Khan had two translators to communicate even after that he had to face the embarrassing situation. Well, on one occasion, the King Khan said 'Kundi kholo' which obviously left the Tamil crew in shock. So, if you don't know the meaning of that expression, find it on the slideshow...
Open The Latch
What Shahrukh Khan meant was 'open the latch', but the word
'Kundi' means bum in Tamil. This shocked the South crew and they
were wondering what the King Khan was trying to say.
Team Burst Out Laughing
However, it was sorted out later and the entire team burst out
laughing at the expression. Shahrukh Khan himself was surprised and
was embarrassed on hearing the meaning of his words.
Chennai Express is about a man's journey from Mumbai to
Rameshwaram, and what happens along the way forms the crux of the
story. The film has been shot in South Indian style.
Tribute To Rajini
Interesting part of the story is that Shahrukh Khan is making a
special tribute song on Rajinikanth in Chennai Express. He
has roped in Honey Singh, a young rapper and music producer, to
come up with a special track on the superstar.
Priyamani's Item Number
South actress Priyamani, who has worked in all South languages,
has done an item number in Chennai Express. The song is
choreographed by Raju Sundaram, the brother of Prabhu Deva.
