Actor Srikanth has acquired the remake rights of Telugu hit movie Swamy Ra Ra. The Tollywood crime-comedy flick is the sleeper hit of 2013. The movie is currently being made in Kannada and it will also be remade in Malayalam.

Confirming the news, Srikanth said that he has bought the Tamil remake rights of the flick. "I have the remake rights of the film in Tamil and Malayalam. The Tamil version will go on floors first, followed by the Malayalam version. It's a quirky film and I thought if I remade it in Tamil, it might actually work out," Srikanth told IANS.

Srikanth said that he wants to play the lead role in the Tamil version. The cast and crew are yet to be finalised. He is also in talks with a director to helm the project. Once, he wraps up his pending movies, the forthcoming flick will hit the floors.

Srikanth is currently busy shooting for Tamil films Nambiar and Om Shanti Om.

Swamy Ra Ra was directed by debutant Sudheer Varma. The movie is one of the few hits in Telugu film industry. The entire film revolves around a stolen idol of Ganesha.

Nikhil Siddhartha, Pooja Ramachandran and Swathi Reddy had played lead roles in Swamy Ra Ra.
