Thalaivaa Box Office Report

Ilayathalapathy Vijay starrer Thalivaa, which was released in Tamil Nadu, 11 days after its international release, is getting mixed response from the critics.

Though the movie received mixed response, the Box Office collection is not affected in any manner. Thalaivaa was released on August 20 in 405 screens, across Tamil Nadu. In spite of getting released on working day, the movie got a grand opening.

As scheduled earlier Thalaivaa, was released in other states and overseas on August 9. The movie also faced tough competition from Chennai Express which was released on the same day.

Despite of controversies in the home, Thalaivaa looted the Box Office as Vijay's movies did earlier. The movie which was released in Kerala and Karnataka had rocked the Box Office collection.

Latest buzz says that the movie also received negative response for being too lengthy and draggy. Following, which the crew decided to cut short the movie and trimmed for 2 hours 36 minutes. Initially the movie's running time was 2 hours 56 mins. The trimmed version of Thalaivaa will be screened from today, August 23.

Industrial experts say that now by releasing Thalaivaa in Tamil Nadu, it is likely to enter 100 crore club in the upcoming days.

First Week Collection

Thalaivaa is already declared as a hit in UK and Ireland market. The movie was released in 36 screens and looted Rs 1.14 crores in the first weekend collection.

International Hit

According to the trade analysts, international hit Thalaivaa has grabbed Rs 2.09 crore by the second weekend in UK.

Kerala

In the first weekend, the movie had collected Rs 1.12 crore. The movie was pushed down after the release of Kunchako Boban's Malayalam movie Pullippulikalum Aattinkuttiyum. It is predicted that by now the movie would have crossed 4 crore.

Karnataka

Bangalore, considering the second biggest market for Tamil movies, Vijay starrer Thalaivaa had grabbed Rs 8 crore. According to reports, the combined collections of the film's Tamil and Telugu versions was pegged at Rs 5.7 crore.

Andhra Pradesh

Thalaivaa which was dubbed to Telugu as Anna was successful in looting the Box Office in the first weekend. By now the Box Office collection would have crossed 5 crore.

Other States

Apart from Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, Tamil flick had successfully grabbed nearly Rs 2 crores in other states of India, though it faced tough competition from Shahrukh starrer Chennai Express.

Tamil Nadu

The movie was released on August 20 across the state, Box Office collection of the movie is awaited

Overseas

Sources said that the movie has also got a thunderous opening in Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, where Ilayathlapathy Vijay holds a strong fan base.
