The
much
anticipated
movie
Vijay
starrer
Thalaivaa
which
released
on
August
9
got
a
grand
opening
across
the
globe,
expect
in
its
home
Tamil
Nadu.
The
theaters'
decision
has
become
a
big
loss
for
the
crew.
On
the
other
hand,
the
decision
is
benefiting
Shahrukh
Khan
starrer
Chennai
Express
which
was
released
on
the
same
day.
Chennai
Express
starring
Shahrukh
Khan
and
Deepika
Padukone
was
well
received
in
Tamil
Nadu.
On
Wednesday,
advance
booking
for
Thalaivaa
was
stopped
in
many
theaters
due
to
a
bomb
threats
from
a
Student
Union
called,
Oppressed
Students
Revolutionary
Force.
The
Union
claimed
that
money
invested
on
Thalaivaa
has
been
earned
by
exploiting
students
of
SRM
group
of
educational
institutions,
which
also
owns
Vendhar
Movies.
Thalaivaa's
producer
Chandra
Prakash
Jain
and
director
AL
Vijay
received
a
notice
from
Chennai
City
Civil
Court,
on
the
grounds
of
the
petition
filed
by
SKR
Karnan.
He
claimed
that
Thalaivaa
story
is
based
on
the
life
of
grandfather
SS
Kandaswamy
and
father
SSK
Ramaswamy
who
lived
in
Dharavi,
Mumbai.
The
petitioner
alleged
that
they
worked
for
the
sake
of
people
and
did
social
service,
but
the
movie
has
depicted
them
in
the
poor
light.
These
two
controversies
of
Thalaivaa
became
a
boon
for
Shahrukh's
Chennai
Express.
As
many
theatres
decided
to
refund
the
money,
people
preferred
to
watch
Chennai
Express
as
it
was
also
released
on
the
same
day
(Aug
9).
Sources
say
that
tickets
for
Hindi
movies
do
not
sell
like
hot
cakes
in
Tamil
Nadu
similar
to
those
for
Tamil
movies.
Thalaivaa
release
controversies
has
been
opposed
by
many
Tamil
film
stars.
They
are
supporting
the
movie
in
social
networking
sites.

What
happened
to
Thalaivaa
is
unfair.
I
wish
they
show
this
kind
of
effort
in
making
this
country
a
better
place
to
live
than
just
to
ban
a
film.
